The gardens on this site (mainly in Otago) are just a few of the many I have designed, and I hope that they provide the inspiration, delight and impetus to get you started on your own - whether you are beginning from scratch, renovating an old garden or considering larger scale native plantings.

My name is Lisa Bosshard. I grew up in a family of compulsive gardeners, and my whole life I have been surrounded by beautiful gardens at various stages of their development. A garden is something that is in a constant state of change; it is not something that is ever finished, but as Cora Lee Bell says, "An addiction to gardening is not all bad when you consider all the other choices in life." For me, a garden is about creating an environment which is an oasis in the often challenging and busy world in which we live.

I trained in landscape design and management at Massey University and worked for eight years as landscape designer for the renown Pukerau Nursery. Now with my own business, I specialise in landscape design, consultation and garden maintenance in Otago, Central Otago and Southland.  I design gardens of all types: formal, informal, traditional perennial and flower gardens, native gardens, contemporary gardens, riparian and other native plantings and lifestyle blocks.

A cheaper option for people with plant knowledge can be a concept plan only giving general layout.

This does not include construction drawings for decks, walls etc. as most builders have their own way of doing this work. We can discuss options if these are required. A concept plan alone showing general layout ranges between $900 and $2000.

services

Every property is different and costs will vary according to your needs.  There are options available for all budgets. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements. We can discuss your dreams for the property and how these can be fulfilled in a practical way.

An on-site consultation is a cost effective way of getting advice and direction to develop or improve your garden if you don't require comprehensive landscape plans. The average consult costs between $200-$500.

landscape design

A landscape design helps you create a garden or lifestyle block following a theme or style to develop an attractive environment and helps avoid costly mistakes. It ensures that the end product is in keeping with the style of your house, the surrounding environment and that plants and hard landscaping are appropriately placed. This plan can be followed by a contractor or by the home gardener and allows the work to be carried out immediately or over an extended period of time. A landscape design is also helpful for native revegetation of larger properties. A landscape design includes:
