my own garden

The reality of life is such that for most of us, making our home as we want it will take time - often years. It is no different for me, and although I can visualise how a garden will eventually look, and am able to plan towards that vision, I cannot make it happen instantly.

Like many of my clients who will work on their gardens over a long period of time, my own house and vintage style garden is a work in progress as time, energy and funds allow. But every garden is a place where work can progress regardless of resources. For me, I always have flowers growing at my back door.

I have decided to show the reality of my own property, to both inspire and illustrate that by starting on a small scale, one can eventually fulfil one's dreams.

I have chosen a vintage theme for my garden - very different to the many contemporary evergreen and native gardens I have designed for my clients, because this is what feels right for my house, for me and my lifestyle. The outer boundaries are planted with both native and exotic shrub and tree species for shelter, screening and wildlife.

If you have a plot of land, no matter how expansive or modest, or even a balcony, with a plan of action, a little hard work and heart full of dreams, a garden can be designed and implemented to suit any budget.
